On October 21st, the officers and chauffeurs spent some time going over pump operations on 12-78 with @garrisonfirerescue. It is crucial that all drivers be qualified and capable of operating the pump and aerial prior to the vehicle placed in service. We are hoping to see 12-78 placed in service by the end of November
On Thursday 9-13-18, the Officers and Members of Pearl River Hook & Ladder Co. # 1 accepted delivery of our new Rosenbauer 78’ Ladder Truck (12-78). The 78 replaced a Rescue Engine (12-1750), which served the Pearl River community for over 23 years. During the next few weeks, our members will conduct familiarizing training to prepare the new truck for service.

On August 8th, 12-Tower had the honor of displaying the American Flag for a Vietnam War Memorial Dedication Ceremony.
Around Midnight on July 29th, the Pearl River Fire Department was dispatched to a reported car fire on the Palisades Interstate Parkway. 12-1 arrived on scene and confirmed a fully involved fire. PRFD units quickly extinguished the car fire
On July 21st, The Pearl River Fire Department was notified of a structure fire at 78 Magnolia by one of our members. 12-2 responded and confirmed that there was heavy smoke showing from the rear of the house. The crew from 12-2000 stretched two lines, while the crew from 12-Tower conducted a search of the house. PRFD & Mutual Aid units quickly knocked down the fire.
On July 19th, Rivervale FD (New Jersey) hoisted the Pearl River FD for a department drill. We trained on truck & engine operations at a strip mall that is in the process of demolished. Special Thanks to the officers and members of the Rivervale FD for this amazing opportunity, we look forward to working together again in the future.
On July 14th, Capt. Ruocco discussed standpipe operations. Our custom made standpipe prop allows for the simulated use of a Fire Department Connection (FDC), which would be located outside of a building and allows the FD to connected to Standpipe & Sprinkler Systems within the fire building
Drill Night: Members utilized the Car Fire Prop & Burn Building to review engine tactics. Using the propane car fire prop members are able to work on approaching a working car fire, hose line advancement techniques. Our Chauffeurs also had the opportunity to review and operate the pump.
Drill Night: Rockland County Fire Training Center. Members drilled on roof ventilation. Using the roof props they where able to cut and vent peaked roofs from a ground ladder as well as the bucket of 12-tower. As well as venting flat roofs using a k12 or partner saw. Our Chauffeur officers (12-5-4 and 12-5-5) took advantage of the trip to the FTC by pumping 12-1250 with one of the driver trainees.
On Sunday, May 6that 3:05 am, 12-Tower was requested to Aluf Plastics in Orangeburg (Department 11) for an unknown type inside. Upon arrival the Tower crew was sent to the roof to inspect vents for any fire, once that task was completed the Tower crew assisted in the entry of an air-filtration unit which was the source of the fire.
